23:1 Տէր Հայր կենաց իմոց եւ Աստուած իմ, մի՛ թողուր զիս ՛ի խորհուրդս նոցա:

23:1 1. O Lord, Father and Master of my life, Abandon me not to their counsel: Suffer me not to fall by them.
23:1 O Lord, Father and Governor of all my whole life, leave me not to their counsels, and let me not fall by them: |
23:2 Եւ ՛ի վերայ խորհրդոց իմոց ո՞ կացուսցէ խրատ սաստից, եւ ՛ի վերայ սրտի իմոյ հանճար իմաստութեան:

23:2 2. Who will set scourges over my thought, And a discipline of wisdom over mine heart? That they spare me not for mine ignorances, And pass not by their sins:

23:3 զի մի՛ յաճախեսցեն տգիտութիւնք իմ, եւ մեղք իմ ՛ի վերայ իմ մի՛ բազմասցին. եւ մի՛ ընդ ոտիւք գտայց անկեալ թշնամեաց իմոց:

23:3 3. That mine ignorances be not multiplied, And my sins abound not; And I shall fall before mine adversaries, And mine enemy rejoice over me.
23:3 Lest mine ignorances increase, and my sins abound to my destruction, and I fall before mine adversaries, and mine enemy rejoice over me, whose hope is far from thy mercy: |
23:4 Տէր Հայր եւ Աստուած կենաց իմոց, զբաղումն աչաց ինձ մի՛ տար:

23:4 4. O Lord, Father and God of my life, Give me not a proud look,
23:4 O Lord, Father and God of my life, give me not a proud look, but turn away from thy servants always a haughty mind: |
23:5 եւ զցանկութիւն աչաց եւ սրտի հեռացո յինէն:
|
23:5 5. And turn away concupiscense from me.
23:5 Turn away from me vain hopes and concupiscence, and thou shalt hold him up that is desirous always to serve thee: |
23:6 Պէտք մարմնոյ եւ ցանկութիւն գիջութեան ինձ մի յաղթեսցէ, եւ բանս անձին ժպրհութեան ինձ մի՛ պատրաստեր[73]:

23:6 6. Let not greediness and chambering overtake me; And give me not over to a shameless mind.
23:6 Let not the greediness of the belly nor lust of the flesh take hold of me; and give not over me thy servant into an impudent mind: |
23:7 Զխրատ իմաստութեան լուարուք, եւ որ պահեսցէ զնա` մի՛ կործանեսցի շրթամբք:

23:7 7. Hear ye, my children, the discipline of the mouth; And he that keepeth it shall not be taken.
23:7 Hear, O ye children, the discipline of the mouth: he that keepeth it shall never be taken in his lips: |
23:8 Հպարտն եւ հայհոյիչն եւ անօրէնն կործանեսցին:

23:8 8. The sinner shall be overtaken in his lips; And the reviler and the proud man shall stumble therein.
23:8 The sinner shall be left in his foolishness: both the evil speaker and the proud shall fall thereby: |
23:9 Զբերան քո մի՛ ընդելացուսցես յերդումն` զի կործանումն մեծ է ՛ի նմանէ:

23:9 9. Accustom not thy mouth to an oath; And be not accustomed to the naming of the Holy One.
23:9 Accustom not thy mouth to swearing: |
23:10 Եւ յանուն Սրբոյն երդմամբ մի՛ սովորիր:
|
23:10 10. For as a servant that is continually scourged shall not lack a bruise, So he also that sweareth and nameth continually shall not be cleansed from sin.
23:10 KJV [9] neither use thyself to the naming of the Holy One.
KJV [10] For as a servant that is continually beaten shall not be without a blue mark: so he that sweareth and nameth God continually shall not be faultless: |
23:11 զի որ յաճախէ երդնուլ` ՛ի մեղաց ո՛չ ազատի:

23:11 11. A man of many oaths shall be filled with iniquity; And the scourge shall not depart from his house: If he shall offend, his sin shall be upon him; And if he disregard it, he hath sinned doubly; And if he hath sworn in vain, he shall not be justified; For his house shall be filled with calamities.
23:11 A man that useth much swearing shall be filled with iniquity, and the plague shall never depart from his house: |
23:13 զի թէ ստիցէ` մեղք նորա ՛ի վերայ նորա, եւ թէ անցցէ ընդ երդումն` կրկին վնաս:

23:13 12. There is a manner of speech that is clothed about with death: Let it not be found in the heritage of Jacob; For all these things shall be far from the godly, And they shall not wallow in sins.
23:13 KJV [11] if he shall offend, his sin shall be upon him: KJV [13] and if he acknowledge not his sin, he maketh a double offence: |
23:14 եւ թէ ՛ի տարապարտուց երդուաւ` սակայն ո՛չ արդարանայ:

23:14 13. Accustom not thy mouth to gross rudeness, For therein is the word of sin.
23:14 and if he swear in vain, he shall not be innocent, but his house shall be full of calamities: |
23:15 Զի են բանք երդման` որ հաւասար են մահու, մի՛ գտցին այսոքիկ ՛ի ժառանգութեան արդարոց:

23:15 14. Remember thy father and thy mother, For thou sittest in the midst of great men; That thou be not forgetful before them, And become a fool by thy custom; So shalt thou wish that thou hadst not been born, And curse the day of thy nativity.
23:15 There is a word that is clothed about with death: God grant that it be not found in the heritage of Jacob; for all such things shall be far from the godly: |
23:16 եւ ՛ի մեղս անօրինաց մի՛ գնասցես:

23:16 15. A man that is accustomed to words of reproach Will not be corrected all the days of his life.
23:16 and they shall not wallow in their sins: |
23:17 եւ զբերան քո մի՛ սովորեցուսցես յերդումն ընդ նոսա:
|
23:17 16. Two sorts multiply sins, And the third will bring wrath: A hot mind, as a burning fire, will not be quenched till it be consumed: A fornicator in the body of his flesh will never cease till he hath burned out the fire.
23:17 Use not thy mouth to intemperate swearing, for therein is the word of sin. KJV [14] Remember thy father and thy mother, when thou sittest among great men. Be not forgetful before them, and so thou by thy custom become a fool: |
23:19 զի մի՛ յետոյ բացցես զաչս, եւ զօր ծննդեան քո նզովեսցես:

23:19 17. All bread is sweet to a fornicator: He will not leave off till he die.
23:19 and wish that thou hadst not been born, and curse they day of thy nativity. KJV [15] The man that is accustomed to opprobrious words will never be reformed all the days of his life: |
23:21 Երկու իրք են որ յաճախեն ՛ի մեղս, եւ երրորդն հասուցանէ զբարկութիւն:

23:21 18. A man that goeth astray from his own bed, Saying in his heart, Who seeth me? Darkness is round about me, and the walls hide me, And no man seeth me; of whom am I afraid? The Most High will not remember my sins;
23:21 Two sorts of men multiply sin, and the third will bring wrath: |
23:22 Բարկ անձն իբրեւ զհուր` զի այրի եւ ո՛չ շիջանի` մինչեւ կլանէ ինչ:

23:22 19. - And the eyes of men are his terror, And he knoweth not that the eyes of the Lord are ten thousand times brighter than the sun, Beholding all the ways of men, And looking into secret places.
23:22 a hot mind is as a burning fire, it will never be quenched till it be consumed: |
23:23 եւ մարդ պոռնիկ անդամօք մարմնոյն` ո՛չ դադարէ, մինչեւ հուր բորբոքի:

23:23 20. All things were known unto him or ever they were created; And in like manner also after they were perfected.
23:23 a fornicator in the body of his flesh will never cease till he hath kindled a fire: |
23:24 զի մարմին նորա քաղցր է, եւ ՛ի չարեաց ո՛չ դադարէ մինչեւ մեռցի:

23:24 21. This man shall be punished in the streets of the city; And where he suspected not he shall be taken.
23:24 All bread is sweet to a whoremonger, he will not leave off till he die.
KJV [17] A man that breaketh wedlock, saying thus in his heart: |
23:25 Զի ասէր ՛ի կենդանութեան իւրում:

23:25 22. So also a wife that leaveth her husband, And bringeth in an heir by a stranger.
23:25 KJV [18] Who seeth me? I am compassed about with darkness, the walls cover me, and no body seeth me: |
23:26 թէ ես յումմէ երկնչիմ:

23:26 23. For first, she was disobedient in the law of the Most High; And secondly, she trespassed against her own husband; And thirdly, she played the adulteress in whoredom, And brought in children by a stranger.
23:26 KJV [18] what need I to fear: |
23:27 եւ զմեղս իմ Բարձրեալն ո՞ւր յիշեսցէ:

23:27 24. She shall be brought out into the congregation; And upon her children shall there be visitation.
23:27 the most High will not remember my sins: KJV [19] Such a man only feareth the eyes of men: |
23:28 Ո՛չ գիտաց` թէ աչք Տեառն տեսանէ զգաղտնիս, եւ զվախճան նորա նա սահմանեաց:

23:28 25. Her children shall not spread into roots, And her branches shall bear no fruit.
23:28 and knoweth not that the eyes of the Lord are ten thousand times brighter than the sun, beholding all the ways of men, and considering the most secret parts. KJV [20] He knew all things ere ever they were created; so also after they were perfected he looked upon them all: |
23:30 ՛ի մէջ քաղաքաց պարտաւորեսցի այնպիսին:

23:30 26. She shall leave her memory for a curse; And her reproach shall not be blotted out.
23:30 This man shall be punished in the streets of the city: |
23:31 եւ ուր ակն ո՛չ ունիցի` կալցին զնա:
|
23:31 27. And they that are left behind shall know that there is nothing better than the fear of the Lord, And nothing sweeter than to take heed unto the commandments of the Lord.
23:31 and where he suspecteth not he shall be taken: |
23:32 Սոյնպէս կին որ թողու զայր իւր, եւ ստանայ ժառանգ յօտարէ:

23:32 '28. 23:32 Thus shall it go also with the wife that leaveth her husband, and bringeth in an heir by another: |
23:33 նախ` զօրէնս Բարձրելոյն անարգեաց, երկրորդ անգամ` յայր իւր մեղաւ, երրորդ անգամ` շնութեամբ պոռնկեցաւ:
